What ㈓ means
It labels the Korean list item “(바).”
The Korean syllable 바 is read roughly “ba.” A 2020 Korean administrative guide uses parenthesized Hangul such as (가), (나), and (다) as nested-item markers; (바) is a later label in that sequence.
Why does ㈓ become (바)?
NFKC compatibility normalization expands it to ordinary (바). NFKC is a text-cleanup process; here, it replaces one character with a parenthesis, 바, and another parenthesis.
A 2016 Korean character-set guide maps ㈓ to legacy entry A9C4, part of older Korean encoding infrastructure.
Don't confuse it with
1(바) ㈓ and (바) label the same Korean syllable; the first is one character, while the second uses ordinary parentheses and 바.
Questions people ask
1Why does ㈓ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
