What ⸩ means
It closes a span marked by an editor.
In transcriptions of Latin inscriptions, ⸨ … ⸩ can mark Claudian letters (forms associated with Claudius), inverted letters, or images omitted from the record.
The convention varies by edition: in the eleventh-century Byzantine manuscript Codex Lesbiacus Leimonos 11, the pair encloses words or sentences judged doubtful.
A specialist editorial mark, not ordinary prose punctuation.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⸩ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
