What ꣗ means
It marks seven in Saurashtra writing. This is one of the Saurashtra numerals: its value is seven, and its glyph belongs to the script used to write the language.
In mixed-script text, the character makes a switch into Saurashtra writing visible; it does not change the number's value.
How did Saurashtra writing develop?
It passed through several writing traditions before a separate script took shape. During the 17th–18th centuries, the language was written in a form of the Telugu script. A separate Saurashtra alphabet developed in the 1880s; Sourashtranadhi, printed in 1880, is identified as the earliest surviving book printed in that script.
A 1920 decision adopted Devanagari for writing Saurashtra, while Tamil and the Saurashtra script also remained in use. The language's history includes several scripts, not just this one.
The Saurashtra script is Brahmic in type, part of a broad South Asian script family. Older Saurashtra writing used more conjuncts—joined letter forms—than the modern style, which simplified them.
A neutral numeral; in mixed-script text, it marks a switch to Saurashtra writing.

1Why does ꣗ appear as a square?
A square means the current font or app did not render the character. In apps on Windows, the font may lack Saurashtra coverage or the app may not use its fallback; as of 2026, Noto Sans Saurashtra includes the script.
