What does 𑆂 mean in Sanskrit?
It marks a breath released after a vowel. In Sanskrit, visarga can arise when a word-final s or r changes through sandhi, the sound changes that happen at word boundaries; the next sound affects its pronunciation.
Sharada developed from Gupta Brahmi through Kutila and served inscriptional and literary Sanskrit and Kashmiri writing in northwestern South Asia. Other scripts later displaced it. A Hund inscription dated 774–775 CE is a disputed candidate for the earliest record; the Bakhshali mathematical manuscript is the earliest cited manuscript, dated to the 12th century. As of 2026, Sharada remains in specialist Kashmiri Pandit ritual and horoscope writing. Sharada is related to Nagari and Proto-Bengali and influenced later Takri, Landa and Gurmukhi scripts.
Why does Sharada text look wrong?
The font or shaping engine can distort the display. As of 2026, Satisar Sharada reports overlapping syllables in some Microsoft applications and recommends a HarfBuzz-based app such as LibreOffice. That affects rendering, not the encoded sign.
Specialist use in Sharada and Sanskrit writing; this sign carries phonological information.

No. Its sound changes with the next sound in Sanskrit; it marks a breathy release, not one fixed pronunciation.
