What 𝤓 means
It marks rubbing contact that moves between two points.
SignWriting writes signed languages with symbols arranged to show a hand's shape, location, and movement. This mark sits between two lines; rub means the contact keeps moving along a surface. Other symbols complete the sign.
How is Rub Between different from Surface Between?
Rub Between keeps contact; Surface Between passes without touching.
Valerie Sutton's Movement Writing system records human movement; SignWriting adapts it to write signed languages. The system dates to 1974. A 2004 Sutton Sign-Symbol-Sequence reference manual lists Rub Between by name, but that does not establish when the mark first appeared.
A 1998 account describes the wider Surface Symbols set moving from DanceWriting and Ice Skating into Nicaraguan SignWriting, including classifier details: handshapes used to represent classes of things.
How do I type SignWriting Rub Between?
Use a SignWriting-aware editor for a complete sign.
SignWriting lays each sign out in two dimensions, where symbol positions carry meaning. A font can draw 𝤓 in a plain text line while leaving out the rest of that layout.
This is specialist notation for signed-language writing; a bare mark is one sign component, not a chat reaction.
A lone mark cannot translate a whole signed message; ask for the surrounding sign layout.
