What ㏆ means
C/kg means coulomb per kilogram. It measures the electric charge released per kilogram when air is ionized.
Some Unicode processing unfolds it to Ckg, the same unit written without the square.
Why is C/kg in a square?
To fit the abbreviation into one East Asian character-width cell.
It is one of Unicode’s square Latin unit abbreviations, arranged to fill the width of an East Asian character. Unicode keeps this family for compatibility with legacy East Asian character sets; its Latin unit forms mostly come from Korean standards.
Technical notation for radiation exposure.
Exposure, not absorbed dose.
Questions people ask
1Why does ㏆ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
