What ㎥ means
ATOK documents a unit-symbol character palette for ㎥. JustSystems' support note dated 1997.09.30 lists it as an input route. Typing m3 and superscripting the 3 yields ordinary m³ instead.
What does ㎥ mean?
It means cubic metre, not a separate unit. Unicode preserves ㎥ as a compatibility character: older East Asian text systems fitted Latin unit abbreviations into one full-width cell, as wide as a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean character. Its one-cell shape reflects that layout history, not a different measurement.
Japanese text-exchange standards write cubic metres as m3. Japanese layout guidance places full-width unit characters mainly in vertical writing and advises against them in horizontal prose.
Technical measurement notation; the one-cell form signals a layout convention.
It still means cubic metres; the one-cell form does not name a different unit.

Yes. NFKC expands compatibility characters into ordinary text, so ㎥ becomes m³ and loses its one-cell character form.
