What ㎼ means
It means μW: one-millionth of a watt, a unit of power.
East Asian fixed-cell text gave short unit abbreviations a square the width of a full character. Unicode’s broader set of square Latin unit abbreviations comes mostly from older Korean standards.
Use μW in ordinary text
For ordinary prose, μW is clearer. Keep ㎼ for legacy material or fixed-cell layouts.
Unicode compatibility normalization (NFKC or NFKD) turns ㎼ into μW. The original one-character square is then lost.
Part of the collection
Don't confuse it with
1μW μW is the same microwatt in two characters; ㎼ is its single square compatibility form.
Questions people ask
1Why does ㎼ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
