What ㏝ means
It means Wb, the symbol for the weber, a unit of magnetic flux.
The Korean KSC 5601 character-encoding standard was first defined in 1974 and expanded in 1987; it includes a row for unit symbols.
The square weber form belongs to a legacy East Asian encoding tradition in which Latin abbreviations occupied a cell as wide as an East Asian ideograph. Its box records that layout choice, not a different unit.
When should I use ㏝ instead of Wb?
Use Wb in ordinary technical writing.
The established SI notation writes the weber as Wb, with an uppercase W and lowercase b. The square form fits legacy East Asian fixed-cell text, so it makes sense when preserving an older document or matching that layout.
NFKC and NFKD compatibility normalization can replace the boxed form with Wb. The unit reading stays the same, but the original square character is lost.
Why does ㏝ look different?
Its box and letter placement can vary by font.
Across CJK fonts, the W and b can sit at different sizes or positions inside the square. A fallback font may draw the symbol differently too.
The character remains the same when its font design changes.
Technical unit notation with the fixed-cell look of a legacy East Asian text layout.
Don't confuse it with
3WB Uppercase WB is not the SI spelling for the weber; its symbol is Wb, with a lowercase b.
Questions people ask
1Why does ㏝ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
