What means
Use a Unicode-aware Sunuwar keyboard layout.
Older community fonts such as Kirat1, Kaatich, and Mukdum put Sunuwar letters on Latin key positions, so those font-based workflows may produce different text.
What sound does Sunuwar Tentu represent?
It marks a retroflex t.
That is a t made with the tongue tip curled slightly back toward the roof of the mouth.
The modern script is dated to 1942 and credited to Krishna Bahadur Jentich. A Sunuwar community history recounts older inscriptions on animal skin, copied and discussed in the 1940s, and places Jentich’s alphabet-order work in the 1960s. These accounts describe a modern script alongside a reported older writing tradition.
Around the early 2000s, users added dedicated letters for retroflex consonants, including Tentu. Another Sunuwar letter, Aal, was borrowed from Limbu to write a long a sound.
Why does Tentu look different in another font?
Fonts can change the outline without changing the letter.
Sunuwar has no formal orthographic standard. Unicode’s comparison of Nepal and Sikkim materials documents regional letterform preferences; fonts can reflect them in their proportions. A different outline alone does not mean the text contains another character.
Writing in Sunuwar identifies the text as Sunuwar and can also signal Koĩts-Sunuwar identity.

1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
