What ܋ means
It begins text linked to a margin note.
The Harklean version is a Syriac revision of the New Testament. Here, ܋ begins wording that differs from the Greek base but is needed for a clear translation. Margin notes compare readings, including Greek variants. The approach follows Origen’s earlier comparison of Greek Bible versions, known in Syriac as the Syro-Hexapla.
A Gospel codex dated 757 lacks these signs and notes; some copies from the second millennium omit the apparatus.

Questions people ask
1Why does ܋ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
