What ݆ means
In Turoyo, ݆ adds a consonant for a sound Classical Syriac lacks. This three-dots-below Syriac diacritic follows its consonant base; it marks a letter, not punctuation.
The 1998 Unicode proposal pairs ݆ with the three-dots-above mark ݅ and describes both as Turoyo signs for letters not found in Syriac. It cites Mhadyono, a Syriac–Turoyo dictionary published in 1985.
The 2017 orthography guidance for Surayt lists other extension marks but does not mention ݆ or its above counterpart. That makes ݆ a documented Turoyo option, not a default spelling rule across Syriac writing.

Questions people ask
1Why does ݆ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Syriac block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
