What 𑚨 means
In Takri, 𑚨 writes the consonant s, as in “sun.” The letter normally carries a short a unless a vowel sign changes it or virama removes it.
Takri developed from Sharada through Devāśeṣa, an intermediate script used for religious and official writing that emerged in the 14th century; Takri became distinct in the 16th century. It was used for Chambeali, Dogri, and other Himalayan Pahari languages, in everyday and commercial writing, and as the official script of several princely states from the 17th century until the middle of the 20th century. It was used alongside Devanagari until the late 19th century, then gradually replaced by it. Takri is also related to Gurmukhi and Landa.
