What 𖪖 means
It writes UE /ɤ/ in tone four, ending with a throat catch. UE is Tangsa’s label for /ɤ/, a vowel made with the tongue toward the back of the mouth and unrounded lips. A glottal catch is a brief closure in the throat. In Muishvung (Mossang), this is tone four; other Tangsa varieties realize tones differently.
Why was the Tangsa script created?
To give Tangsa speakers a shared writing system. Lakhum Mossang began developing it in 1990. A 2013 Unicode introduction described it as a new alphabet unrelated to older scripts. As of 2026, some Indian schools teach it for Muishvung, while other Tangsa varieties have adopted it less.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𖪖 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
