tangut component-003

Tangut Component 003

3/768

𘠂 is a Tangut script component used to describe or index parts of larger characters, not a standalone word with its own reading. The script was developed around 1036 for Western Xia state purposes, including Buddhist translations; its earliest transmitted document is dated 1072, and surviving writing is attested as late as 1502. Tangut writing drew on Chinese and earlier Khitan traditions while forming a distinct script.

Why does 𘠂 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut Components block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
