What 𘥛 means

A building block, not a complete Tangut character.

Component systems differ across dictionaries; the number does not identify a reading.

The Tangut, or Xixia, script was created around 1036 under Western Xia and served state administration and Buddhist translation. After Western Xia fell, writing continued into the Yuan and Ming periods. Its forms resemble Chinese writing, but Tangut is a distinct language and script; other East Asian scripts, Khitan and Jurchen, also build characters from components.

Questions people ask

1

Why does the Tangut component show as a box?

A Tangut font gap. The active font may lack Tangut Components coverage; a font with Tangut glyphs can display it.
