What 𘨅 means
It is a structural part used to analyze Tangut characters.
Tangut components help scholars analyze larger characters and may signal meaning or sound within them. The mid-12th-century Sea of Characters, a Tangut dictionary organized by rhyme, also grouped characters by shared parts.
The Tangut (Xixia) script was created by imperial decree for the Tangut language and used in official, private, and religious writing from 1036–1502. A 2018 Unicode proposal lists this form as entry 158, with regular and cursive samples. Tangut writing drew on Chinese writing, but this is not a Chinese radical or reading. Unicode 17.0.0 describes historical text as vertical and contemporary text as horizontal, left to right. Fonts may draw or omit 𘨅 without changing its identity.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘨅 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut Components block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
