What 𘫱 means
It is a writing-system component, not a Tangut word.
Tangut was the language of the Western Xia kingdom, and its script wrote the language. Scholars use components like 𘫱 to describe how full Tangut characters are put together and to organize dictionary entries. The number 754 in the Unicode component name is a catalog label, not a historical name.
In 1036, Tangut ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the creation of the script as part of building a Western Xia state. A Tangut edition of the Buddhist canon was a key purpose; the script also marked a political identity distinct from Song China. The Tanguts followed neighboring Khitans who had created scripts. Tangut writing was visually and compositionally inspired by Chinese, but did not derive from it.
How are Tangut components used?
They help scholars sort and analyze full Tangut characters.
There is no universal component list: Unicode's Tangut set brings together systems from several dictionaries and other publications. Scholars use components to organize dictionary entries and analyze character structure.
Some components serve as dictionary radicals—the parts used to file entries—or appear in Ideographic Description Sequences, short formulas that show how a character is assembled. These are structural clues; 𘫱 has no fixed word meaning or sound by itself.
Technical and scholarly: useful for analyzing Tangut writing, but not a complete word someone can read by itself.
Sent alone, 𘫱 does not reliably communicate a Tangut word.
