What 𗂒 means

It means “observe” or “watch” in Tangut.

Two Tangut dictionaries from the 12th century, Wenhai (“Sea of Writing”) and Tongyin (“Homophones”), gloss it as “observe.” They are dictionaries of Tangut, an extinct language.

Tangut script was created around 1036 under the first emperor of Western Xia, a Tangut-led state, to write the Tangut language. Its forms were modeled on Chinese writing, but it is a separate script used for official records, literature, and Buddhist texts. It continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties after Western Xia fell, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. If 𗂒 appears as a hollow box, the font lacks a Tangut glyph.

1

Why does 𗂒 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
