What 𗃐 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses 𗃐 as “hunchback.”
Tangut writing was commissioned in 1036 under Emperor Li Yuanhao for state-building and a Buddhist canon, a collection of Buddhist scriptures. Later, Tangut was used for official texts and for Buddhist and secular translations. Its forms drew on Chinese characters, while the plan for a state script followed a neighboring Khitan example.
Historical and scholarly; read the dictionary gloss in a Tangut-language context.
