What 𗃚 means
It is a Tangut character with the dictionary gloss “deaf.”
That gloss gives a word-level meaning in the Tangut language. In a modern message, 𗃚 may be a word or a reference to Tangut writing; its shape alone does not show the sender’s tone.
Why is Tangut a separate script?
Tangut was a distinct script created for the Tangut language.
Also called Xixia script, it was developed and spread around 1036 under the Western Xia state for official, private, and religious writing. Its forms were influenced by Chinese writing, but Tangut is a separate script.
After the Western Xia state fell in 1227, Tangut texts continued into the Yuan and Ming periods, later ruling dynasties in China. The script was obsolete by around 1502. The character’s gloss stayed “deaf”; the setting shifted from living texts to historical study.
Specialist and archival: it belongs in Tangut texts, historical-script study, or font work.
A box means the viewer lacks a Tangut-capable font; it does not mean the text is corrupt.
