What 𗃜 means
The dictionary gloss is “to be willing.” Li Fanwen lists it as entry 3410.
Tangut, also called Xixia, is the script of the Tangut language. The Western Xia state created it around 1036, drawing on Chinese writing; its Khitan neighbors had made their own scripts a century earlier.
A Khara-Khoto manuscript dated to the 12th or early 13th century shows the script in use. It appears in official records, legal works, Buddhist texts, and literature. Tangut writing survived Western Xia’s fall in 1227 and continued through the Yuan and Ming dynasties, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
