What 𗄯 means
It means “clear” or “obvious” in Tangut.
Historical Tangut dictionaries also use it as a sound-based transcription of 梅 in Middle Chinese, an older stage of Chinese. Use the surrounding text to tell whether this is the intended sound-based use.
How did Tangut writing begin?
It was created around 1036 for the Tangut language. Western Xia’s first emperor oversaw its creation. The Tangut (Xixia) script served official documents and Buddhist translations, then remained in use under the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The latest known Tangut inscription is dated 1502.
The earliest cited records for 𗄯 are in the 12th-century Wénhǎi (“Sea of Writing”) and Tóngyīn (“Homophones”), two dictionaries of Tangut words.
Historical and specialist; its meaning depends on Tangut context.
It can be mistaken for Chinese writing; call it Tangut when the script matters.

Questions people ask
2Is 𗄯 a Chinese character?
No. It belongs to Tangut, a separate script created for the Tangut language. Its historical sound-based transcription of 梅 does not make it a Chinese character.
Why does 𗄯 look different in fonts?
It can. Unicode 16.0 encodes Tangut variants that are not distinguished in their source texts as one character, though fonts may draw it differently.
