What 𗇫 means

One Tangut verb, various dictionary translations—not distinct sign meanings.

Why was the Tangut script created?

To give Tangut official, religious, and cultural writing.

The Tangut state of Western Xia commissioned the script in 1036 for official writing, including a Buddhist canon, and to distinguish its written identity from the neighboring Song dynasty in China. Tangut writing drew on Chinese principles and may also have been influenced by Khitan, while remaining a separate script.

A Tangut sound-reference book called Homophones records 𗇫 in the 12th century; it groups words by pronunciation.

Why does 𗇫 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
