What 𗊐 means
It means “calf” in Tangut. Here, a calf is a young animal of the cattle family. One scholarly reconstruction gives the Tangut pronunciation of 𗊐 as *zər².
The Western Xia state created Tangut writing under its first emperor around 1036. It was used for government records, Buddhist translations, and secular books. After Western Xia fell, the script continued in Yuan- and Ming-era material.
Tangut characters can resemble Chinese characters, but Tangut is a separate script for a different language. 𗊐 is not a Chinese character, and resemblance alone does not reveal its meaning in Chinese.
This character belongs to the historical Tangut writing system.
If 𗊐 appears as a box, the font in use may not support Tangut.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗊐 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
