What 𗋷 means
L2423 is paired with 蠍子, the Chinese word for “scorpion.” A Tangut–Chinese study records the match; Tóngyīn (“Homophones”), a Tangut sound dictionary from the 12th century, also preserves the entry.
The Tangut script was created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 CE to write Tangut. It appears in official, private, and religious texts, including Buddhist sutras. It remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty, and was rediscovered in the late 19th century.
Historical vocabulary; readers need Tangut context.
Without Tangut context, a recipient may not recognize “scorpion.”

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗋷 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
