What 𗌅 means
A kind of deer.
Li Fanwen’s 2008 dictionary glosses 𗌅 as “a kind of deer” (#5194); Clauson’s cross-index lists it as L2049. The 17305 code-point label is a Unicode identifier, not a translation.
Why was the Tangut script created?
For state-building and a Tangut Buddhist canon.
Created in 1036 under Emperor Li Yuanhao, it wrote the Tangut language. It followed earlier Khitan scripts and drew on Chinese forms and writing principles, but was not derived from Chinese. Texts include Buddhist scripture, Chinese translations, official and secular works. A manuscript fragment from the ruined city of Khara-Khoto, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, preserves Chinese anecdotes in Tangut. The script remained in use into the late 15th or early 16th century.

1Why does 𗌅 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
