What 𗎶 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “writing brush.”
In 1036, Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao commissioned Tangut writing to give his kingdom its own script. It carried Buddhist and secular texts; manuscripts and prints survive from the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries, and Buddhist production continued beyond Western Xia.
The Tangut language differs from Chinese, though its script borrowed visual and structural ideas from Chinese writing. Neighboring Khitan states also made scripts for political identity; this is a parallel, not evidence of glyph ancestry.
