What 𗒉 means
It names an act of giving a present. A Tangut dictionary glosses this exact character as “to present (a gift).” A scholarly reconstruction writes its reading as bə: a b sound followed by a short, unstressed vowel.
The Tangut script was promulgated in 1036 for Western Xia’s official and cultural work. That date belongs to the script’s introduction, not necessarily to this individual character’s first surviving inscription.
Is 𗒉 Chinese?
No. It belongs to Tangut, a separate script. Chinese writing supplied a conceptual model for Tangut’s square design, but Tangut characters are not Chinese forms that can be substituted for one another. Khitan was an earlier neighboring script often discussed alongside Tangut; proposed influence exists, while a close relationship remains disputed.
Specialist and historical: it marks Tangut-language writing, not a casual pictograph.
If the recipient cannot read Tangut, add a short English gloss; the character alone gives little context.
