What 𗓏 means
In Tangut, 𗓏 is the verb “to look.”
Western Xia’s emperor commissioned the Tangut script in 1036 for the state’s official and cultural needs. It wrote the Tangut language and drew on Chinese character traditions, but it was a distinct script.
After the Mongol conquest in 1227, Tangut writing passed out of daily use. Manuscripts found in the ruins of Khara-Khoto in 1908–09 preserve examples for study.
