What 𗔙 means
It means “to thunder” in Tangut. A Tangut dictionary gives this gloss. Tangut was the language of the Western Xia state; the dictionary entry, not the character’s shape, supplies the meaning.
The script’s earliest surviving evidence comes from 11th-century Western Xia writing, where it served government work and translations of Chinese classics and Buddhist books. Buddhist printing continued after Western Xia fell. Scholars disagree on whether Tangut script design was directly derived from Khitan, another northern Chinese script. As of 2026, a browser or app using a font without Tangut coverage may show this character as a box; that signals missing font support, not a different character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗔙 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𗔙\17519Why is 𗔙 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
