What 𗘃 means
Read it as a Tangut word for “buttocks.” This is a dictionary gloss for a historical language, not a modern emoji convention.
Why does 𗘃 look like Chinese?
Tangut and Chinese are distinct writing systems. Tangut uses Chinese-style block shapes and strokes to write the Tangut language, which is not Chinese. Its development was a court project: one Chinese history credits Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao with beginning it and his official Yeli Renrong with developing it. The court made it official around 1036 as a sign of political autonomy. Tangut remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, especially in Buddhist texts. Historical sources sometimes show a character in different shapes; Unicode may group those forms as one character when a source does not treat them as distinct entries.
The dictionary sense is anatomical; the glyph alone does not set a sender’s tone.
Don’t infer a joke or insult from the glyph alone.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗘃 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
