What 𗘊 means
In Tangut, it means “a kind of insect.”
The 2008 XHZD Tangut-English dictionary gives this broad gloss.
Commissioned for the Tangut language, the separate script modeled on Chinese writing served the Western Xia kingdom in official writing and Buddhist and Chinese translations. Reference books include Tóngyīn, printed in 1125, and Wén Hǎi, a mid-12th-century rhyme dictionary that analyzes character structure. Tangut writing spans 1036 to 1502, not 𗘊’s first appearance. Published analysis places 𘡗, 𘠁, and 𘠧 left to right within 𗘊.
