What 𗘨 means
It means to herd animals out to graze. The historical Tangut dictionary Sea of Writing glosses 𗘨 as “to herd (put out to graze).”
Tangut writing was created under the first emperor of Western Xia, a state that used the Tangut language, about 1036. It served official, Buddhist, and Chinese texts. The earliest transmitted Tangut document is dated 1072. The script continued after Western Xia fell in 1227, through the Yuan and Ming periods, and became obsolete by the end of Ming.
What does 𗘨 mean when someone sends it?
It has no built-in mood; read a lone glyph from context. With nearby Tangut text, it can be the word for herding; by itself, it may be a script sample or a display check. Ask for context before assigning it a personal or slang meaning.
Tangut was written vertically in historical practice; modern practice is horizontal. Fonts can unify or distinguish glyph variants, so a different drawing does not by itself mean a different character.

A bare 𗘨 has no emoji mood; use the surrounding message to read it.

Questions people ask
2Why does 𗘨 show as a box?
It can. In a font without Tangut coverage, 𗘨 may appear as a box or fallback symbol. That changes the display, not the character’s identity.
Is 𗘨 Chinese?
No. Tangut is a separate script for the Tangut language, used by the Western Xia state. Its characters can resemble Chinese ideographs, but 𗘨 belongs to Tangut.
