What 𗚂 means
It names prickly vegetation in Tangut.
Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary glosses it as “thistles and thorns.” Tangut arose as state writing for Western Xia (Xixia) in the eleventh century; an official document sent to a military official in Guazhou in 1072 is its earliest surviving text, not this graph’s date.
Is 𗚂 Chinese or Tangut?
It is Tangut, a separate script.
Tangut signs may resemble Chinese characters, but the scripts are distinct. Writing continued in official, private and religious texts under the Yuan and Ming dynasties.
Historical and specialist, with a lexical tone.
A reader who cannot read Tangut cannot infer the word from the glyph alone; add a gloss.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗚂 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
