What 𗛙 means
Use a Tangut-aware character lookup to enter 𗛙.
Your device needs a font with Tangut coverage to show it; otherwise, the missing glyph may appear as a square. Some fonts draw source-based variant forms, so the shape can differ even when the underlying character is the same.
Tangut writing was created around 1036 for the Tangut language. It followed Chinese-shaped writing principles and Khitan precedent, and served official, private, and religious texts of Western Xia. Written use continued after the kingdom fell before the script became obsolete.
What does 𗛙 mean?
Its dictionary gloss is Chinese 皴, chiefly “chapped or cracked skin.” The Chinese word also has senses for wrinkling, dirt on the skin, and brushstrokes used to texture landscape paintings. Those extra senses belong to the gloss and need not apply to every Tangut use.
A historical script character suited to archival or linguistic contexts.
皴 is its Chinese gloss, not another form of 𗛙.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
