What 𗞂 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “calabash.”
A calabash is a hard-shelled gourd used as a container. Its reconstructed Tangut reading is written lu²; that is a scholarly estimate of how the word sounded in Tangut.
Why does 𗞂 look like Chinese?
Tangut followed a Chinese-character design tradition but remained a separate script.
The Tangut script was created under the first emperor of the Western Xia kingdom around 1036 CE for official, cultural, and Buddhist writing. It remained in use after the kingdom fell in 1227, including in Yuan and Ming settings, and became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. That square design explains the resemblance; 𗞂 itself is Tangut, not a Chinese character.
Historical and specialist; it belongs in discussion of Tangut writing or this Tangut word.
Its Chinese-influenced design does not make it a Chinese character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗞂 appear as a box?
It is a font-coverage problem: the selected font lacks a Tangut glyph for this character. Choose a font with Tangut support; the box is a fallback mark, not a different character.
