What 𗞲 means
Use a character picker once; Tangut input suits repeated writing.
Dedicated Tangut input offers two specialized routes: stroke-code lookup by written strokes, or phonetic lookup using scholarly transcriptions of Tangut readings.
Font support is separate from input: the selected font must include Tangut characters. Fonts may draw historical variants differently, so the visible shape can vary while the encoded character stays the same. A box indicates missing font coverage; a Han ideograph (Chinese character) is different text.
What does 𗞲 mean?
Its label identifies the encoded character, not a translation.
𗞲 belongs to Tangut, a historical writing system for the Tangut language. Created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036, it served the state: Tangut users recorded events and translated major Chinese classics. The script was used by the Western Xia state (1038–1227).
Official, private, and religious writing included books, Buddhist scriptures, inscriptions, and manuscripts. The script continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties of China before becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming; its role shifted from a working state script to historical study. Tangut borrowed Chinese-style character-building ideas while remaining a distinct script. A Tangut dictionary index cross-references this glyph as L4105 (entry 756, folio 58); those are lookup coordinates, not a plain-language gloss.
Historical and scholarly; its reading depends on Tangut context.
Its label is an identifier, not a translation.
