What 𗠧 means
Use a Tangut input method with dictionary or shape lookup.
A regular keyboard will not usually offer 𗠧 directly. A Tangut tool may search by dictionary number, four-corner code (a lookup code based on a character’s corners), radical, or handwriting. A guide for Tangut IME Online updated in 2025 lists dictionary-number, four-corner, radical, Xuanpin, and Cangjie input. Its code-entry mode first needs a Tangut dictionary file.
What does 𗠧 mean in Tangut?
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “a surname.” Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese dictionary associates 𗠧 with entry L2008-4589 and gives that gloss. A radical index also records a scholarly reconstruction of its historical reading, written kjɨ̣ in specialist notation.
The Tangut script was officially established in 1036 for the Western Xia state’s official and cultural work. Its structure drew on Chinese characters, and it was used to record state events and translate Chinese classics and Buddhist texts.
Historical and specialist; use it when transcribing or discussing Tangut sources.
A box means missing Tangut font support, not a different character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗠧 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
