What 𗢁 means
Use Xunpin for Rime, and install a font with Tangut support.
Rime is an installable input-method framework. As of September 2026, the community Xunpin scheme maps this character to hyy under Gong Xun’s reconstructed Tangut readings; its stroke mode uses fbbaedcamcd.
The project requires a Tangut-capable font and names Tangut N4694 as an example.
What does 𗢁 mean?
The Unicode name identifies the sign; it does not translate it.
The label “Tangut Ideograph-17881” is formed by prefixing TANGUT IDEOGRAPH- to a code point. The prefix and number identify the sign; they do not give its Tangut reading or an English gloss.
Is 𗢁 a Chinese character?
No; this is Tangut, a separate writing system.
The Tangut script was created under the first Western Xia emperor around 1036 to write Tangut. It served official, private, and religious texts, including Buddhist translations from Chinese and Tibetan. It stayed in use after Western Xia fell and was obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. Its square forms resemble Chinese characters, but that does not make this one Chinese.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗢁 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
