tangut ideograph-178d0

Tangut character U+178D0

2257/6136

𗣐 is a Tangut character; its Unicode name identifies it but does not translate its meaning. Tangut writing began around 1036 to support Western Xia state-building and Buddhist texts. A Khara-khoto manuscript, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, shows Tangut used for a translated nonreligious text. Tangut was a distinct script shaped by Chinese and Khitan writing systems.

Why does 𗣐 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
