What 𗣑 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “children.”
The Tangut script was created around 1036 under Western Xia's first emperor to write the Tangut language. It appeared in state records and cultural writing, including books, inscriptions, and Buddhist sutras.
Tangut writing continued through the Yuan and Ming periods after Western Xia fell. Khitan and Jurchen are useful historical comparisons: they were separate scripts associated with other regional states, not alternate forms of 𗣑.
A historical word for reading Tangut texts.
Its square form may look Chinese, but 𗣑 belongs to the separate Tangut script.
