What 𗤏 means
It is glossed as “mallet.” A 2015 analysis lists it in a Tangut wordbook of unknown provenance; the entry cannot establish the character’s first appearance. Scholars reconstruct its reading as kyr'₄ in specialist notation.
The Western Xia state introduced Tangut writing in 1036 for government, Buddhist texts, and cultural identity. Its character structure drew on Chinese writing; official-script use echoed the neighboring Khitan state.
Historical, specialist use: Tangut reading, dictionary work, and script study.
As of 2026, some mobile apps may not render Tangut text; a Tangut-capable font may be needed.
