What 𗪏 means
The Chinese gloss 埃 means “dust” or “fine particles.”
Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary indexes 𗪏 as entry 2864, paired with 埃. Tangut writing took shape around 1036 for Western Xia state records and the Tangut language; historical accounts credit ruler Li Yuanhao and official Yeli Renrong with its creation. Its square forms borrow visual conventions from Chinese writing, but Tangut is a separate script. Buddhist scriptures were translated and block-printed in Tangut; the last known inscriptions date to 1502, long after Western Xia fell.
