What 𗬆 means
It gave Western Xia a native script. Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered it as part of state-building. One intended project was a Tangut canon, a complete collection of Buddhist scriptures.
Chinese writing shaped its appearance and how its characters were built. The Khitan, another medieval people of northern China, offered a model for creating a native state script; Tangut remained a separate system for the Tangut language.
After the Mongol conquest, Tangut writing continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties of China; it was obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
