What 𗭳 means
Its standalone meaning is not securely established. One scholarly reconstruction gives *thu²: an aspirated t (a puff of air after it), then the vowel in “food”; ² marks tone. This is a pronunciation, not a translation. 𗂽𗭳 appears under “sheep,” but that gloss does not establish 𗭳 alone as “sheep.”
The Tangut script developed around 1036 under Western Xia (Xixia), a Tangut-ruled state, for official and Buddhist writing. It also carried translated Confucian teaching (ideas linked to Confucius), military texts, and literature. Writing continued after Western Xia fell; the script became obsolete by the end of the Ming period.

1Why does 𗭳 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
