What 𗯑 means
It means “to tie or strap something tightly” in Tangut. Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary lists entry 5848.
Tangut is the language written in this script. The Western Xia state commissioned the script in 1036 for state-building; it served government, Buddhist scripture, and secular writing. The earliest source known to preserve 𗯑 is the 12th-century Sea of Writing, a Tangut pronunciation dictionary; it lists the character at reference 58.161. As of 2026, records treat it as a word, not a standalone symbol.
