What 𗰿 means
It is glossed “to swap” or “to barter.”
Unicode derives its label from the code point, so the label identifies the character rather than giving its meaning or pronunciation.
Tangut characters can resemble Chinese ideographs, but the scripts are unrelated. Tangut was created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 to write the Tangut language. It remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, then became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. Scholars rediscovered it in the late 19th century and largely deciphered it in the early 20th century, with key work by Nikolai Nevsky.
