What 𗱈 means
It means “tiger” and marks the Tiger branch. The Tangut word names the animal; in the twelve Earthly Branches, an East Asian calendar cycle, 𗱈 stands for the third position, corresponding to Chinese 寅.
Tangut is an extinct language once spoken in northwestern China. Around 1036, the first emperor of Western Xia commissioned its script to write the language. After Western Xia fell to Mongol forces, Tangut writing continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties; examples survive as late as 1502.
Tangut signs were shaped under the influence of Chinese writing but were created for another language. Surviving texts include Buddhist scriptures and translations of nonreligious works.
What does it mean when someone sends 𗱈?
A lone send needs Tangut context. If the recipient does not read Tangut, the character alone does not show whether it means the animal or the calendar branch. Add a short gloss when that distinction matters.
Historical and specialist; it points to Tangut-language text or study of the script.
Without context, readers may not know whether it means the animal or the calendar branch.
