What 𗱉 means

A Tangut–Chinese dictionary glosses it as 池, “pond.”

Li Fanwen’s dictionary reconstructs le as the old Tangut word’s sound. 池 is a Chinese translation gloss, not another form or Chinese reading of 𗱉.

Is 𗱉 a Chinese character?

No; it writes Tangut, the language of Western Xia.

The Tangut court promulgated its script in 1036. Its forms draw on Chinese writing, and a separate script may also have helped Xixia (Western Xia) distinguish itself culturally and politically from the Song dynasty. After Western Xia fell in 1227, surviving Tangut manuscripts were mostly Buddhist.

Why does 𗱉 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
